Life Lessons...Or so I think!

Today was one of those mornings as a mom where you wonder if anything you do even matters! To be quite honest, it was one of those mornings where I also laughed more than I have in a while! I am reading this book to Gentry and Nate that has scriptures at the bottom of each page that they repeat. One of the scriptures was from 1 Peter 5:5 about humility. When it was Gentry's turn to say the scripture he repeated it, and then without blinking an eye said 1 Peter Pan 5:5. My laughter was uncontrollable, for those of you who know Gent, you know that we never leave the house without our sword and he is always "Capin Hook" singing "yo ho, yo ho a pirates life for me" Both boys sat starring at me as a laughed until my eyes watered. He not only did it once, but repeated the scripture again.

Then we moved on and I contained myself. The last scripture was about loving each other. In my mind it was perfectly obvious that I was explaining this concept so that both boys fully understood I was talking about them loving each other. Riiiiight! As soon as I turned to both boys to get some feedback Gentry explains how "God just loves Santa, and his reindeer, and all the pesents he brings to me" he proceeds to say "and Santa loves God and Jesus and he brings Jesus pesents, he does" I guess he didn't get the mom memo I sent about how I was talking about him and Nate. Half heartedly I smiled, realizing my son will be 3 in 2 weeks, and Nate just turned 5, do I really think they will grasp these lessons! Nooooooo, but nice try anyways mom. I put the boys down for a nap and laughed at myself for being a little on the serious side with their learning capacity!

God's lesson of the day for me: Laugh at yourself, don't take things to seriously, and appreciate that your kids are only kids once and their innocence is a priceless gift that will not always be around. Thanks God for having grace with me in raising these kids!!!!!!

Our BFF's have a baby Tinkerbell!!!!!

Last night Jeff and I got to go visit our best friends in the hospital with their new baby girl Mimi Turrill, also known as Tinkerbell at our house. It was seriously the sweetest, fun time I could have ever imagined! Ben and Mackenzie came into our lives about 2 years ago, but we honestly feel like we have known them our whole lives and couldn't ask for a better friendship. I was to far away from my sister when she had her children, and sadly when Gentry was born our situation was so extreme I couldn't fully enjoy the wonderful event (although he is the light of my life and I would never trade a game of football or pirates for anything)!! So The Turrill's new baby girl is a breath of fresh air, and a savored every minute (or hour) I got to hold her! Most of you know, but Gentry decided around 5 months into Mackenzie's pregnancy that it was most definitely Tinkerbell who was in her tummy (most days he is capin hook so it is only fitting). Gentry has not yet met Tink so we are hoping he is not dissapointed that she doesn't have wings, doesn't fly, and doesn't sprinkle pixy dust, but we will deal with that when we get there! She will forever be Tink to us and we can't wait to be apart of her life!!!
Just a side note...As you can tell from the pictures she most certainly loved her aunty Ash, and from the big goofy smile I wore all night in between the watered eyes, I was pretty much in heaven holding her!!!!

The Things We Do for Our Kids...

Last night Nate wanted to use these bath colors to color himself. So of course Jeff and I ended up also getting painted up for the occasion. I am not exactly sure how it happened, but before I knew it Jeff, Nate, and I were painted up as Clowns, and Gentry of course wanted to be a pirate. From the painted faces, the boys then wanted to dress up. First Gentry was a Chinese Pirate, and Nate was a Rodeo Clown. Then Nate was a Chinese Clown and Gentry was an Incredible Pirate. There is not much more to say, sadly I think the pictures speak for themselves...The Things We Do for Our Kids!

The Fair

On Friday I took Nate and Gentry to the Boulder County Fair. The boys loved the animals but their favorite was the pigs. Every pig we saw was named Wilbur. Most of the pigs were sleeping (the boys tried to wake them up by slapping them on the back), but there was one pig that was very interested in the boys. Both boys would bend down and talk to the pig.

"Wilbur what are you doing in this cage?"-Nate

"Oh hi piggy, your name is Wilbur"-Gentry

We had a lot of fun!!!!
