Favorite Conversation of the Day...

Jeff was reading Nate and Gentry a Spider Man book. After he finished, he asked Gentry if he wanted to be a big boy and wear big boy undies to bed, or wear a diaper. Gentry's response:

"The amazing Spider Man puts on a diaper, but he is not a baby, he is a big boy!"

He emphasized "Amazing and Big Boy" and even tried to use a super hero voice! Hilarious!

Working Out!

Tonight the boys gave me instructions on how to work out. We have been going to the gym a lot lately and now everyday they ask "when are we going to the gym?" The funniest part of these videos is Gentry has his underwear on backwards, and in the background while Nate is telling me how to work out, Gentry is singing none other than his favorite pirate song "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirates life for me!" I also love watching them interact and seeing Gentry copy everything Nate does, they really do act like brothers. I love these boys!

The Sweetest Prayers...

Tonight when I put Nate and Gentry to bed, they both said the sweetest prayers.

Nate: "Oh thank you God for playing in the park, and tomorrow when we can go swimming with me, and G2, and Ashlie, and Caitlin, and Jeff. Oh thank you God for this night when we sleep and all the books we read, and for sliding in the park. In your name we pray Amen."

Gentry: " Tank you for goldfish and peanut butter, and nigh nighs when we sleep. Oh tank you for goldfish and peanut butter, and goldfish and peanut butter. Amen"

Gentry tries to mimic what Nate says every night, and it is so sweet. Their innocence when they pray sometimes brings me to tears because their prayers are simply thanking God for all the things they love during the day. Today Nate loved playing, and Gentry loved food and sleeping, I can't wait to hear what they love tomorrow.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho

Gentry's fascination of pirates started when he saw the Disney movie "Peter Pan." It has grown from "Capin Hook" to every pirate or ship he sees. Along with his fascination comes his "mean scary Pirate face" you will notice here, and him singing three lines of the pirate song "Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a pirates life for me" over and over! When we were at the beach he wore this pirate bandanna. I have to put sunscreen in his hair when we are outside because his hair is so white and thin his scalp will easily burn. He promised he would wear it instead of me putting sunscreen in his hair, and he did! When we are not outside he wears other things as his pirate hat...like his underwear for example. When nothing else is around to be his pirate hat, the undies leave where they should be, and end up where they shouldn't be!!!! I know it's early, but we have decided he is going to be "Capin Hook" for Halloween. The great part is, Ben and MacKenzie Turrill (our really good friends) are having a baby girl in August, and Gentry already named her Tinker Bell, so we will have "Capin Hook" and Tinkerbell. Now if I can only convince Jeff to wear green tights with pointed shoes, and I will be Wendy, we will have the entire cast from Peter Pan!!! We will see if that really happens:) It's worth a try!

Nothing but Buff Love

We have already brainwashed Gentry into loving the CU Buffs, and as a 2 year old, he is really their biggest fan. Now we are working on brainwashing Nate. So during our free time in the hotel we sand the fight song, but we also played the fight song using our "horn" as Gentry says. We were all required to use our "horns" so we could participate in Gentry's "Go CU BUff Band". We probably played and sand the fight song at least 100 times on our trip, but at least they will both be close since they will attend CU when they are ready for college :)

Our Trip Around Texas

For the last week and a half, we have been traveling around Texas. Our adventure started in Waco with the "Feagan Family Reunion", which is all of the moms family on her dad's side. It was fun and great to connect with family we only see once a year. After that, we loaded up Gentry and Nate and headed to Galveston for a couple of days. Jeff had some meetings down there so the boys and I tagged along. The boys loved the beach, everyday when we left they both cried and begged us to stay longer. It was so fun to have both of them there, although it was so exhausting. Jeff and I both actually got sick on the trip, I got an ear infection in both ears and Jeff got the flu. Other than that the trip was so fun!
After that we headed to Austin for more of Jeff's meetings and more pool time for me and the boys, and let me just say I feel like I had fish with me instead of boys. They swam every night until both of their eyes were red from the chlorine and their little toes and fingers were like raisins that had been left out in the New Mexico sun all day! Needless to say they slept great every night. They boys enjoyed the pool so much they said "I do not want to go home to your house I want to live at the hotel so I can swim" (Nate) "Me too, I don't like mommy's house" (G2). We came home regardless of what they said, I might have failed as a parent since I don't have a pool, but at least I love them!
Next we headed to Granbury for the weekend, which is where my grandma, grandpa, aunt and uncle live. They live right on the Brazos river and have a great yard that the boys love to play in. Also my cousin brought their little girls down for the day and so we had Nate 5, Kelsey 4, Gentry almost 3, and Kailin 2. It was a circus and so fun! As much as I love Colorado being in Texas made me miss my family and friendliness that comes with the great state of Texas.
We made our last stop in Dallas before we came home and again the boys swam until the were ready to drop. We caught a flight at 6:30 this morning in Dallas and made it home at 9:30. The early flight made for a long day with the boys since we got up at 4:30, (3:30 our time) but we are all exhausted and will go to bed early tonight! The video is of Gentry who will be 3 in September and Nate who just turned 5. They are both really great swimmers from an intense swim class that they have both taken, and Jeff and I both agree the time and money was so worth it because they are both great swimmers and it makes being by the pool so much more relaxing and fun!

Sweet Nate, and My Sweet Mom...

Last weekend Jeff and i were in Artesia. My little brother Nate took it upon himself at the ripe old age of 5 to teach Gentry to read. It was so funny. This clip is of Nate reading to Gentry, but after this video was taken Gentry tried to read the book himself. I didn't get it on video but every time Gentry would say the wrong word (which was ever other word), Nate would angrily correct him, and then Gentry would say whatever Nate told him to say. It was so cute! We have loved having Nate growing up so close in age to Gentry, it is like he has an older brother. In fact when they are together Nate always says Gentry is his little brother. We wish my parents were closer because the boys are so sweet together. And since neither one of us (my parents, or Jeff and I (especially my parents!!!!)) are planning any more kids for now, it is fun for them to experience the closest thing to a brother. I love these two sweet boys!!!!!

We had a great time at my parents. We went to a friends wedding from high school, so I got to reconnect with many of my high school friends. Gentry loved it because besides getting to hang out with Nate, his friend Asher was there, and they had a good time at the kiddy table that was at the reception. I had never seen one before, and I thought it was a clever idea until we got there. The great thing was they had coloring books and a whole table just for kids. The bad part was there there were huge bowls full of M&M's, Starburst, Skittles, and tons of candy! Which of course Gentry chowed down on every time we turned our head. Then the sweet girl who was in charge of the kiddy table thought Gentry would love chocolate strawberries. I am sure he didn't oppose! When I turned around he was covered in chocolate, and was literally scooping up the chocolate with his fingers and eating it!!!! Then on top of all that sugar, he had fruit punch that my mom gave him, and when we walked in from the wedding, my sweet, loving, wonderful, caring mom had both boys sitting at the table eating a popsicle at 9:30pm. Ahh... how we love grandparents and sugar, right? As you can imagine Gentry tossed all of his sugar up the next morning as we headed on a 3 hour trip to Albuquerque to catch our flight. I say it again, we love grandparents and sugar, right...
