Today Gentry had his friend Caora over from school. Caora and Gentry are about as opposite as you can imagine. She is all girl, and he is all boy. I have quietly laughed to myself all afternoon because they literally live in different worlds and yet play so well together. Here are some of the conversations from the day!
Caora: "Gentry you be the dad and I will be the mom"
Gentry: "Well I just need to be a super hero"
Caora: "No be the dad and I will be the mom"
Gentry: "I don't know if I can do that, I just got a bunch of superhero stuff going on in my mind"
Caora: "Well I guess you could be a batman dad"
Gentry: "Ya, or maybe I could be a karate kid dad or wrestling dad"
Gentry then proceeds to jump around and wrestle on the couch's, as sweet Caora watches and cheers him on (by this time she has found a pair of my heels and is wearing them around the house, seriously to cute!). Then after a while she tells Gentry...
Caora: "Okay honey it's time to go home" (Daintily she walks down the hallway in my heels)
Gentry: "Okay but I have a secret door that I have to use to get into our house" (He runs down the hallway jumping and making grunting noises as he hits bad guys on their stroll home)
The story of the mom in heels and the karate kid dad continues on.
Gentry: "Okay so now you turned into Batgirl"
Caora: "Gentry I don't like that super hero thing"
Gentry: "Caora I'm not a bad guy, I'm being the good guy who fights bad guys"
Caora: "Nope I don't like that super hero thing it just scares me"
Gentry: "This is the only person I can be cause it's the only think I like"
Caora: "Okay...sweetie if any bad guys come to the door, just open the door and slice them in half"
Gentry: "Okay mom"
After listening for a while I realized Gentry doesn't understand that playing mom and dad means you are playing like you are married. He thought Caora was being his mom, and I (and every other woman in the world) of course knew exactly what Caora was thinking...they were married! After about 30 minutes of Honey's and Sweeties, Gentry asked...
Gentry: "Why do you keep calling me that, you can just call me son."
Very apparent that men and women are different pages from the very beginning!!
